What about offering a time-limited free membership, perhaps for one month (or multiples of months)? 
The invitation could be extended to more than just friends or family, perhaps those interested in our work, but not ready to pay for it, just yet. 
A time-limited free membership could help to whet potential client's appetites for our offerings, and persuade them to buy a membership at the end of the allotted time period.

This is very similar to the expiring giveaway memberships (mentioned in two other feature requests). I'm hoping this features implementation considers those use cases.

Yes need this asap! 14-day is my vote as well

I think a 14-day trial would be better with the option to cancel before the 15th day. 
Reminders would be sent to such members on the 7th, 10th, and 14th days giving them the option of auto-payment or auto-cancelation.
This would also be an option when becoming a member, in case they are already sure that they want to pay.

Lee Hills: Jijo Sunny: Just had a thought: Maybe the number of days could be set by the page owner? Some creators put out content almost every day, while some only drop content once a month.
Creators who drop content regularly throughout the month could use a 7-day or 14-day trial and those who are less regular could use the 30-day trial.
The option for the creator to change which one they use would only be possible twice per year as stuff happens causing a slow down in content at times.
